Low Relief Blue Tile Effect on Decorative Terracotta Vase, "Ocean Earth"

Daysis Sanchez creates an utterly modern design for a decorative vase with a pre-Hispanic essence. She crafts the terracotta vase by hand, masterfully etching a grid of squares that are painted blue, creating a marvelous low relief contrast underscored by terracotta's earthy brown.

To craft this product, the artisan uses her own feet to knead the clay, and bamboo sticks to ensure an even shape. Pumice stones are use to ensure an even surface, and the stone of the zapote fruit is used to polish the piece.
