Ghanaian artisan Abdul Aziz Mohamadu creates this stunning mask that is hand carved from rubberwood to resemble a woman's face. He carves the wood by hand into his own design before sanding and painting it over the course of two to three weeks. Bold shades of red, yellow, green, blue, black, and white decorate the face, with polka dot designs creating a striking contrast between the colors. The edges of the cheeks and brow of the mask are covered with textured aluminum repoussé metalwork, adding a bold accent to the design. The artisan names his unique design ntokozo, which is a Zulu word that translates to "joy and happiness."
