Depicting a bird that reaches to grab an egg off of its back, Sankofa is a traditional Adinkra symbol that signifies the importance of learning from the past. Ghanaian artisan Paul Ababisa creates this African mask, which is carved from sese wood and given a black finish. The Sankofa symbol in embossed aluminum decorates the forehead, while embossed aluminum patterns accent the cheeks.

First, I bought this mask as a present to a friend but in the end I decided to keep it for myself. I love the look, the great quality and the neat work. My congrats to the artist!
