After visiting festivals in the northern region of Ghana, artisan Joseph Boateng found creative inspiration in the customs he observed. One such tradition was the presence of Atinga drummers, who played their drums as both a welcome and farewell to guests. Joseph designs and handcrafts this sculpture of an Atinga drummer out of sese wood and paints it in shades of white, black, and brown.

Another beautiful piece added to my collection. My only complaint is that the leather hook broke. Im thankful the mask didnt break when it fell off the wall. Hopefully the shoemaker repair can replace the leather hook.
