Carrying banten, or offerings of fruit and other meals top their heads, three women set out on their way to the temple in this moody painting by Balinese artist Purwadi. He paints this scene in a dark, expressionist style, depicting the women wearing traditional blue robes. Junjung banten is a Bahasa phrase that means "carrying banten."
