Signed Multicolored Batik Cotton Wall Hanging from Ghana, "Divine Sacrifice"

Reflecting on African cultural practices, artist Oluwayemisi Adeniran creates this batik wall hanging to depict people performing a ritual sacrifice. In parts of Africa, ebo, or sacrifice, is commonly practiced as a way to appease the gods and ask for their blessings. Adeniran executes this fascinating composition by drawing onto cotton cloth with a wax resist before applying colorful dyes.
