Carved from crocodile wood, this jewelry box takes the shape of a sea turtle. Gusti Ngurah Semarajaya paints the piece by hand, depicting Rangda on the lid. A symbol of all that is evil, the witch is described in the Hindu epic Ramayana. She is the Balinese manifestation of Durga, goddess of the underworld. The petite box is lined in black velvet.

This little box is so cute! I love the choice of colors. I had a bit of a time figuring out how the box opened the first time (it was a bit snug), but now its no problem--I just didnt want to break it! Its beatifully lined with black velvet and just the right size for little treasures. I have it prominently displayed for all to enjoy when they come to my home.
