Sterling silver granulation is a specialty of Balinese jewelry. In this traditional art form, tiny spheres of metal called jawan are painstakingly applied, one by one, to create a textured surface. In these earrings, granulated details are surrounded by a rope design called tali air. Faceted amethysts totaling 3 1/2 karats complete the design.

It is said that now Kala Rau travels the skies in search of Ratih to exact his revenge. When he finds her, he tries to eat her, thus causing a lunar eclipse.
