Perched on a topiary tree, a peacock enjoys the freedom of his palace garden. The bird and companions are sculpted from a single block of kadam wood. This astonishing statuette from Suresh and Devender Garg features an adult peacock with a smaller bird on its back and a third tiny peacock inside the latticed body. The exquisite birds were favorites with royal courtiers of the Mughal empire and figure widely in contemporary Indian art.

Feathery details embody the wisdom the owl in this original sculpture. Carved by hand from kadam wood, the piece is sculpted in classic jali, or openwork with a tiny owl inside the latticed body. From Suresh and Devender Garg, this sculpture masterfully demonstrates both contemporary design and ancient technique from India.

Lifting one hand in blessing, Buddha is a beautiful presence. Gulam Rasool captures his peaceful features and posture in pristine white marble. A floral chakra, or wheel surrounds the master's head like a halo.

Buddha reclines as though in sleep, illuminated by a lotus halo. With an expression of total serenity, he rests a hand beside his cheek. Gulam Rasool depicts the master in a pristine marble sculpture.

Indian artist Vidushini portrays a loving mother and joyful baby elephant strolling in the gardens using the Madhubani style of painting. Madhubani art began in the village of Maithili, of the Bihar state, originally created by women on the walls of their home. This style evolved from elaborate home decorations to becoming important aspects of festivals and eventually appealing to lovers of art both within India and internationally. The painting is signed by Vidushini, who specializes in Madhubani styles at this time and even had her artwork selected to be the cover of Delhi University's textbook, Indian History and Culture.
