In ancient Maya culture, jade was a gemstone of great value and significance. Inspired by this history, artisan Zandra Lorena Sajbin of Guatemala designs a striking pendant necklace. An alluring oval jade pendant in light green hangs from a simple black cotton cord.

Guatemalan artisan Jorge López handcrafts this striking pendant necklace. A circular pendant made of jade hangs on an adjustable black cotton cord. On the pendant, the artisan uses a combination of polished and unpolished jade to form the iconic symbol of peace.

"Today this is a powerful symbol for peace," says Jorge Lopez of Gerald Holtom's design for the British Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament in the 1960s. The widely recognized symbol is expertly etched on a dark green jade pendant. It is worn on a black cotton cord.

Representing the complement of opposites, the yin yang symbol is expertly etched on a medallion of dark green jade. The pendant is worn on a handcrafted black cotton necklace. "This pendant represents the fact that there can be good and bad things that happen in our lives, and that there is always hope," explains Guatemalan Jorge Lopez.
