A melange of vibrant colors, human shapes and exquisite artistry create this sublime artwork by Andrea of Peru. Inspired by renowned artists, Andrea uses oil and coated paper on canvas to create this abstract composition that expresses her artistic soul while sending an empowering message of self-love and determination.

The piece—titled Sumergirse en lo conocido y desconocido in Spanish—arrives signed and stretched.

With sensuous flaring fins, a majestic blue betta blows bubbles that drift toward the water's surface far above. Sea plants undulate beneath the sea. Mahmud paints an enchanting portrait of the beautiful creature known as the Siamese fighting fish.

Says Balinese artist Mahmud, "Nine arowana fish are led by one super-red alpha male, which is always accompanied by one green female, are about to go hunting. They are known as agile when hunting. Sometimes they gather, but they also split up sometimes. They go here and over there to show their colorful beauty, especially when the sunlight touches their bodies." The artist uses vibrant hues of orange and green to capture the school of freshwater fish as it swims just under the surface of a river.

Swimming just under the surface of a river, a school of arowana fish is bathed in the light of the sun, which diffuses into rays as it passes through the water. Balinese artist Mahmud paints this scene in a realist style, utilizing an wonderful rainbow of colors that contrasts against the darkness of the surrounding waters. Says the artist, "A couple of arowana fish came out from their nest, followed by other arowana fish. They tend to move to other places after nesting for a while. Also, they tend to find sunlight to warm their bodies."

"The coati is a beautiful little creature that lives in Southeastern Mexico," Marina Pallares says. "It is likeable, but wild. I like to watch them digging in the dirt for their food. Just like that! They're lovely." Working in black and white, she depicts the ring-tailed animals in a small-scale linoleum block print.
