Shaped like a totem, a figure from the xiupohualli, or Mayan calendar, is crafted by hand from ceramic. Presented by the Angel Ceron Artisan Association of Mexico, this mask is inspired by pre-Hispanic designs, adding a touch of culture to any home. A suede cord allows this mask to be hung on any wall.

Artisans from the Angel Cerón Artisan Association recreate a royal Maya mask adorned with an impressive headdress. The artisans craft the mask by hand from ceramic featuring a fearsome jaguar, or balam. A valiant Maya warrior and a feathered serpent complete the regal headdress.

To the Maya, he was Kukulkan while the Aztecs called him Quetzalcoatl and in Yucatán he was known as Tepeu Kukumaz. Tlaloc is the god of rain in a number of Mesoamerican cultures, beginning with the vast city of Teotihuacan where he was also venerated as a fertility god. Deity of earthly waters and fertility, Tlaloc was believed to be responsible for drought as well as for floods in ancient Teotihuacan. This belief spread throughout Mexico, reaching the Maya who referred to him as Chaac, and from there to Central American cultures.
