The purple looks as if it's dyed leaves. Such a rich, dark purple. The button is attached securely. The handmade paper is a bonus. I can't wait to use as a sketch book or journal in my travel bag. Very well made. Pretty enough to leave out on desk top. It would make a lovely gift for an artist, poet or anyone who likes to jot down their muses in a one of a kind notebook.
