Shaped within a diamond, a brilliant flower adorns this splendid hand-carved backgammon set. The craftsmanship is unique, as the board displays Ketut Sandi's expertise and imagination. He uses manual tools to carve the detailed imagery from cempaka wood. The checkers and dice are all carved by hand from sono wood; the lighter pieces are carved from the external part of the wood.

Against a field of intricate maze motifs in buff and black, stylized russet clouds decorate this fantastic silk shawl from Bali. The designs are applied using the batik method, where a wax resist is stamped onto the silk before it is submerged in colorful dye. Presented as part of Melati's Collection in Bali, this accessory arrives in a box that is accented with linen and suede.

For wrinkles, the artisan recommends ironing the scarf at a low temperature without water. Spray the fringe with water and gently brush it with a comb to remove wrinkles. Let it air dry.

Jayaprana and Layonsari are forever reunited in this hand-carved backgammon set by Ketut Sandi. According to legend, the king was mad with desire for Layonsari, and so had her husband, Jayaprana, killed. Rather than submit to the monarch, Layonsari killed herself, and joined her beloved husband in heaven. The artisan's expertise is evident in the detailed and expressive images of the eternal lovers. He uses manual tools to carve the portraits from native cempaka wood. The checkers and dice are all carved by hand as well; the lighter pieces are carved from the external part of the wood.

Enjoy a festive dinner for four with this charming set of placemats. Liem Hauw. The artisan combines weaves them with pine leaf ribs and dried water hyacinth fiber on a cotton warp, and ties the fringe by hand.

Throughout history, doves have inspired messages of peace and unity. Balinese artisan Made Wirata also draws inspiration from these winged friends to hand-carve a suar wood sculpture of two loving doves atop a globe.

"I hope the world will always be at peace. When the world experiences peace, a harmonious world will be created, and the economy will be improving, as part of a peaceful world.

"If we look at the character of doves, we know why they were chosen as a symbol of peace," the artisan continues. "Doves do not like to kill when looking for food, and do not like to fight when attacked by predators.

"Now, in the world, there is so much strife between humans, so much murder, greed, and injustice. Hopefully, humans can imitate the character of the dove sharing feelings of affection, tenderness, and love. This is how the world will become peaceful and serene."

NOVICA artisan Saktut Raitawati and Threads of Life have collaborated to presented this beautiful shawl. The shawl is made from handspun cotton and woven in East Java. It is naturally dyed by Threads of Life using dye plants from indigo (Strobilanthes cusia) and a mangrove species (Ceriops tegal).
