Long before the Spanish arrived upon the coasts of the Yucatan Peninsula, the Maya preferred to sleep and rest in hammocks. They considered the hammock to be like the loving embrace of a mother, due to the comfortable manner in which the body is held and swung within its cradle. Maya Artists of the Yucatan seek to preserve time-honored customs while also offering stylized versions of the original Maya hammock. For them, the hammock is a work of art. Their hammocks are incredibly comfortable, easy to maintain, and may be stored just about anywhere.

Made with a dark brown laurel wood frame, its cappuccino-colored fabric with white stripes is handwoven with a blend of recycled cotton and polyester fabric trimmings reclaimed from garment factories. A row of fringe hangs from each end of the seat, and the chair back can be adjusted to four different positions.

Alfonso Velasquez transforms recycling into elegant chic with this original handbag. The bag's jute part comes from a coffee sack with the information printed both in English and Spanish. Velasquez trims the bag with soft nubuck leather in dark brown. The interior is lined in brown and has a pocket, while the main bag closes with a zipper.
