In celebration of Andean countryside workers, the talented artisans of Peru's Ulloa Family design a reverent tapestry. With geometric forms, three Andean women--two with babies slung across their backs--set about their work in the fields as the sun sets pasts the mountains. This moody tapestry is handwoven of wool on an artisanal telar de pedal, or floor loom.

Geometric formations add a modern touch to the traditional Andean style, creating a sophisticated home accent by the talented artisan Zosimo Laura. Proud of his heritage, Zosimo works on a loom to create this wool tapestry depicting three women in typical Andean garments whose vibrant colors imitate the region's natural richness. Directly from Peru, the artwork also features braided tassels representing the women's hair, allowing for a unique illusion.

Chola is a term referring to indigenous and mestizo women from the Andes that now applies to all who wear the traditional costumes established during the initial process of mestizaje (mixing of cultures) in the current Andean region. Peru’s Gerardo Fernandez creates a breathtaking Ayacucho tapestry expertly handwoven from wool depicting three cholas in abstract style. “The women are wearing typical hats and colorful skirts. Each figure is carefully detailed, capturing the richness of the textiles and the bright hues that characterize their attire,” says Fernandez. The eco-friendly tapestry is colored with natural dyes obtained from organic sources like cochineal and tree leaves, bark, roots and fruits.

Llameros are what llama muleteers and herders are called in Peru. This beautiful tapestry hand-woven from 100% wool by Peruvian artisan Luis Leon depicts a "llamero" that wants to campaign for world peace at the heart of the Andes surrounded by his faithful companions: the llamas, the beloved, calm and peaceful Andean animals.

Artist Inka of Lima, Peru designs and supervises the weaving of these charming portraits done in alpaca and other fibers. The design is drawn and digitized to match with the colors of the threads. Almost all is handwoven, with the flowers crocheted and attached. It is signed by the artist, and hanging apparatus is included.
