“Man and woman are responsible for the creation of life. The Tree of Life is a symbol of wisdom, knowledge, eternity and harmony. Our life cycle is also an eternal process through creation and destruction, showing us the pathway to liberation from pain and suffering. And peacocks represent divine love and companionship,” says India’s Parboni Ghosh about his exquisite painting expertly crafted in Madhubani folk art style. This striking artwork is rendered with a blend of acrylics and ink on handmade cotton paper.

The traditional Madhubani painting technique from the Mithila region is awarded Indian artist Bharti Dayal's specialty. Her style mixes Hindu mythology with current social, political and philosophical issues, but also marvels at the little things of life such as a woman immersing in and absorbing nature. This multicolored folk painting is crafted with acrylic paint and vegetable dyes applied to handmade paper with the help of brushes, sharpened reeds and pen nibs.

The artist explains that this peace painting is inspired by the notion of Krishna as the god of compassion, tenderness and love, who teaches about life, love, happiness, dharma, liberation, devotion, yoga, meditation and truth.

The kadamba tree is inextricably linked to the Hindu god Krishna's iconography, exquisitely depicted in this folk painting by Indian artist Bharti Dayal.
