This is a beautifully crafted piece of art. Every time I have tea or coffee in this mug it brings a smile to my face. It is balanced and surprisingly lightweight, a mark of a superb potter. I fell in love with this mug. The contrast between the naked elephant and glazed surround is so unique and whimsical, along with the trunk being the handle. I bought it for a large auction to help raise money for an elephant sanctuary and everyone went crazy for it…there was a bidding war!!! I love Penpan’s work and clearly so do our supporters. I would rather support artisans & offer something unique rather than buy something from a big box store.

The very first tableware wasn't used at a table, however prehistoric blades, bowls and baskets figure in museum collections around the world. Over time, eating and serving utensils became specialized and beautiful. In France, cutlery, glassware and tableware are considered 'Arts de la Table' – part of the total dining experience.
