Both of these styles reflect the artisans' take on a traditional style. In prehistoric Rome, robes were used to identify social status and to signify special ranks within communities. And by the 1700s, dressing gowns were a fashionable piece in the western wardrobe.
The most popular materials for crafting handmade robes are natural fibers such as silk and cotton. Because silk is a light-weight, water-resistant fiber, it provides the wearer a sense of luxury and comfort. Rayon is a natural-based material made up of an organic compound derived from cotton extract or wood pulp. This fiber is extremely durable, breathable, and cost effective. I always wanted a beautiful robe...now I have one!
I love this robe. It is not only comfortable but so flattering. The colors on this robe are so rich and beautiful. It is a cranberry red with a creamy contrast. I wasn't sure how functional the sleeves would be but because of the shape they stay out of the way but look great! I love the full length and the border design together with the nebula pattern overall. It would make a beautiful gift it arrives wrapped in a handmade batik pouch! Love, love, love it!

Batik robe 'Blue Anemone' by Desak Nyoman Parwati
This arrived on time and I love it. It came in a nice material draw string pouch that can be used for other things. There was a nice little envelope with a hand written note on a small colorful greeting card. I'm 5' 1" and it was not too long. Still a few inches for someone even shorter. The product is very professionally handmade and sewn. There is even pockets on either side - which is nice. There's a little loop inside on the back collar to hand the belt as no loops on the robe - perhaps to look nicer. I washed it right away in cold water with Woolite. No noticeable bleed of color...It's made of 100% Rayon. Care is on a little tag inside. It says to dry flat and you can iron it if want... but I just hung it wet and it didn't need ironing. Very happy with the purchase.

It's beautiful being green
The handmade batik print design on this garment is unique and the color is superb. I can wear this as a dressing gown or bathrobe. It is an easy off or easy on garment. quite comfortable!
