Adorning the neck on a length of adjustable cotton cord, this striking necklace from Guatemala is the perfect accessory for men and women. Ruben and Gilda Perez carve a ring of black jade, centered by a light green disc at the center and accentuated by a green bead just above.

Dress up a pair of white sneakers or a simple t-shirt with this lightweight cotton skirt. Antonio Cajahuanca designs and crafts it in a laurel green cotton with embroidery, lace trim, side seam pockets and a convenient adjustable drawstring waistband.

Antonio grew up immersed in the textile tradition of his hometown of San Pedro de Cajas, deep in the Andes mountains. As an adult, he decided to combine his skill and knowledge with those from his sisters and start a workshop. Their designs combine natural materials with novel styles and techniques and draw inspiration from the culture and landscapes around them.

Printed onto paper and coated in resin, a beautiful rainbow-billed toucan rests on a branch in the pendant of this bracelet from Costa Rica. Katherine Vargas designs the bracelet, which circles the wrist with a handcrafted macrame band. Colorful glass beads accentuate the pendant and the adjustable sliding knot.

Glistening gems surround a serpentine flower in a hand-knotted necklace by Thailand's Nareerat. She selects a bright assortment of gems that include clusters of chip-cut serpentine, carnelian and dyed yellow-green quartz. Round carnelians and dyed quartz in yellow and greenish yellow are dotted throughout the brown necklace that can be adjusted to the desired length.

Working with recycled materials requires a talent for thinking outside the box. In this case, Marielos and Tania of Costa Rica have found a way to "glassify" plastic taken from old CDs by painting the cut rings and subjecting them quickly to high heat. This open disc in dappled yellow is then knotted on green and grey macramé cords into a basket-like design and worn on an adjustable cord.
