Posada created the character, a female skeleton with an elegant hat, as a satirical portrait to lampoon Mexican natives who aspired to European style and denied their own heritage. A beautiful Catrina.

This is a very nice Catrina. What impressed me the most is that given my past experience with this type of ceramics, I was hesitant to order it just because I was afraid it may not make it on the shipping. Well, I had to use my old dissection skills to unwrap it. The packaging was superbly done. Now to the piece, it is as beautiful as it shows in the picture. It is elegant and genuinely "coqueta."

Uniquely lovely

These are very cool earrings, they are well-made and a good size. I like the combination of the pyramid stud and the skull. The only downside is that they are kind of heavy. I had to get some earring backs that have the clear plastic disk around the metal back to provide more support. Other than that, they are great.
