+ - Can men wear ponchos? Which are best?

Absolutely! Men's ponchos look great and you'll find them in woven fabrics as well as knits. They're easy to slip on and aren't bulky like heavy jackets and overcoats. Itajime is a kind of shibori tie-dying, an ancient technique that originated in Japan. Rather than tying the fabric with threads, wooden shapes are knotted into the fabric. The dye is classically derived from the indigo plant and lends itself to themes of peace and tranquility.Artisans in India take their inspiration from the traditional styles and motifs of Kashmir, where ponchos are well suited to the cold weather there. Lavish floral motifs are popular and they are often embroidered by hand with aari embroidery, a type of chain stitch. The flowers are traced on the fabric and a needle with a hooked end is used to push colorful threads through the fabric from behind. Each time the needle is pulled up, it brings up a loop of thread, and the loops are linked consecutively.

Gorgeous Statement Piece!

I hesitated to purchase this because of "one size fits most" sizing. The poncho is so stunning that I decided to take the plunge. The package arrived beautifully wrapped, and I saw that the poncho was perfect. I am 5' 10", and the poncho falls well below my lower hip area until about 5 inches above my knee. Love the poncho styling with the unique soft collar that drapes over the neckline. I own lots of wraps, and the design of this piece appealed to me since it won't fall off my shoulders because of side stitched sleeve openings. Fabric is soft and nice weight (alpaca/acrylic/wool). The Inca Claret design is a modern twist on traditional Peruvian textile motifs. The center torso is black, and the red/black graphic design runs down either side. Front and back are identical. High quality workmanship. Easy to wear casual/dressy and perfect for travel. My new "go to" wrap!

A New Me

I live in North Texas where the winters are usually pretty mild. With temps in the 40s and clear, I had a need to walk downtown to see the latest Star Wars flick. Wore this baby for the first time. It was great. I felt a little self-conscious but it sure felt good. Had my own little blanket in the cold theatre. Loved it. It feels great, looks great on me, and is well constructed,. I expect to get many years of use from this wonderful garment.
